This one was OK for quite a while – then someone updated their signatures and they popped up everywhere – this “old faithful” file now has a trojan. My initial suspicion is that in updating the signature files (describing what Trojan “Delf” looks like) – they didn’t make it quite specific enough, and the quite innocent, but extremely “delf-like” tmd5.dll now also matched the description.

Next step is to take tmd5.dll into the authorities so they can determine if it is the same Delf they described in their updates. If not, they will announce it is a false positive (false alarm) and release a more accurate description so tmd5.dll doesn’t get arrested and hauled in for questioning again.

Daar wordt gezegd dat na een update van een virusscanner een (bijvoorbeeld) dll-bestand een andere “omschrijving” kan krijgen en dat daardoor een alarm afgaat bij een bepaald bestand dat eerder als veilig werd gezien. Dit wordt daar een false-positive genoemd.
Blijkbaar ziet Kapersky het ddl-bestand uit die topic niet meer als bedreiging, andere virusscanners wel, AVG bijvoorbeeld.

Of bij de mensen nu de alarmbellen gaan rinkelen vanwege hetzelfde bestand als uit de link weet ik niet. Ik heb het programma op cd-rom en weet dus niet of mijn scanner zou alarmeren. Vermoed van wel, ik heb namelijk ook AVG.
Als leek stop ik ook met downloaden of installeren als mijn scanner begint te piepen, terecht of onterecht. In de toekomst toch eerst maar eens googlen waarom AVG piept en niet gelijk in de stress schieten

Doe met de info wat je wilt, ik ben geen kenner en kan de informatie niet goed beoordelen op juistheid. Toch wilde ik het even neerzetten vanwege alle virus-meldingen hierboven.

Het programma is voor mij waardeloos, maar zeker niet schadelijk.

Kan ik huiruit afleiden dat het virus verwijderd is?
Ik heb geen zin in nog een Trojan.
