I had a previous version on my old tower and while it does do a lot I think I'll pass on this one. There is free software that does the same thing, such as the comparatively lightweight and less intrusive Greenshot for screen captures, which I've used for years without problem. They don't bombard you with ads and offers either.
My decision isn't helped by my experience with Ashampoo last week, when I installed their Backup 2020 from here and it repeatedly refused to even allow me to log in, saying there was an "Error 999" and to try again later. Their support didn't bother to respond, nor did their Twitter account, so it doesn't instil much faith in the company. I know stuff given here generally doesn't come with technical support but you'd think they'd at least help you when it won't even log in and appears to be a problem their end!
Ashampoo Snap 9 was offered 18 November 2018. What makes this Snap 9 different? Is there minor version difference or is this the exact same 9.0.6 version (which has a build date of 11 April 2017!)?
So I went ahead and downloaded today's offering and it is indeed exactly the same version we saw nearly a year ago (no minor update at all) with a build date of 2.5 years ago. Not installed today as I still have the one from last November.
I may have an important use for this, just want to be sure I understand whether it will have this function :
I regularly have to watch tax training webinars (video & sound), and want a simple, user friendly software to record it.
There are software, and online tools, that does this for free, but it's not user friendly or reliable, and I've lost some valuable webinar recording.
So, will this software do it in a user friendly and reliable manner ?
Louis, see

It describes in marketing terms what it can do.
Personally I use FastStone Capture, because I find it simpler to use.
Louis, If you have mission-critical needs, I suggest you spend the money and buy software like Camtasia or Screenflow. They are designed for just this purpose and have been in commercial use for years. Daniel
Prima programma, ik gebruik het al jaren met heel veel plezier.
