Well, it works pretty well and does its job as it claims....
Can find the duplicate images on your drives according by their content instead of by size, name or last modified date; then it lets you remove them with ease, regardless of the output format, size or location.
So absolutely a keeper but only for those having to deal with tons of pictures stored in the HD of their PC.
But how about other file formats??

Why is this my First choice?
Simply because, unlike any other similar free and even paid products out there, this magic FREE app not only finds & deletes duplicate files, but it's even able to replace duplicate files with NTFS hard links as well (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hard_links). And it's also PORTABLE!!!!
Supports path longer than 260 characters and alternate NTFS-streams.

Installed and registerd without problems on a Win 8.1 64 bit system.
A company without an address or information about the company. On a further look a Chinese company which offers English-Chinese translation services and software of all kind.
After installation and program start a window opens, which cannot be resized, a non-standard user interface, understandable, but not well made. The same the homepage, which really looks self&handmade. Fancy&colorfull. But okay, let's test.
I scan a drive with some twenty thousand documents, a small part of it images. You can choose, which picture formats to scan. I selected .jpg.
The program seems to compare by size, not by checksum. It scans quite fast and comes with a new, greater result window, which can be resized and the information about scanned data, time, found duplicates :
Scanned : 148 GB for 20.000 files in 5.000 folders
Found : 28 MB for 425 duplicate pictures in 120 groups.
Spent : Did all above in 12 seconds.
The pictures are displayed and you can choose which to select, delete to recycle bin or directly, save the result and so on. Makes a good impression despite of the cruel colors of the window in a somehow Win 8 look.
A good duplicate picture scanner, does not find similar pictures by content.
Will not replace my CloneSpy (freeware) which I use since look as a reliable duplicate file finder.
Downloaded and installed without problems, opened to a simple to use interface.
Unfortunately had two problems with it,
Crashed when trying to select individual folders.
When it scanned a drive it claimed to have found many pictures in the statistics but nothing was listed.
Did this a couple of times with the same result.
Decided to give #4 John’s recommendation a try, that is Awesome Duplicate Photo Finder it is Free and available at the following link:-

This program does not find duplicates by content. This is misleading on their homepage. It can only find duplicates by the exact size, NOT by content, NOT by checksum.

As noted by others and shame on me for missing the comments, the app installs the Search Conduit search redirection malware, taking over whatever browser you are using.
Not the worst of malware, but a PITA to get rid of it. I used Malwarebytes and it did the job quickly.

Installed Conduit, KEYBAR, MALWARE and search hijacking. This is inexcusable. Corrupted my IE, FIREFOX, and CHROME setups.
**Worst of all is that it was moderately difficult to remove.
Summary
DO NOT DOWNLOAD. I SPENT HOURS REMOVING SPYWARE AND MALWARE FROM MY PC AFTER INSTALLING.

Ik heb de trail-versie opgehaald en laten scannen door Virustotal.
Deze kwam er zonder kleerscheuren erdoorheen: 0 van de 49.

Ik sla mijn foto's altijd dubbel op, op verschillende harde schijven. Het lijkt me dan ook zeer voorspelbaar wat de bevindingen van dit programma zouden zijn als ik het zou gebruiken. Ik heb hier dus niks aan, ik wacht wel tot Duplicate Photo MAKER Plus ontwikkeld wordt: dit zou me veel tijd besparen.

virustotaal resultaat (https://www.virustotal.com/) 1op 49 vind iets, 2 kunnen het niet downloaden, naar mijn idee false positive dus!

Dit was nu eens een programma dat ik echt kon gebruiken. Maar: het werd tegengehouden door mijn Emsisoft virusscanner mat de melding: ? Gen:Variant.Symmi...? malware. Niet downloaden.
Jammer toch... ik riskeer het dus niet.

even getest, >120.000 plaatjes in een map met >500 sub mappen... 8 minuten om er ruim 4000 dubbele uit te vissen.
maaaar..... de dubbele zijn allemaal exact gelijke plaatjes van exact dezelfde afmetingen enz. en niet zoals gesuggereerd word ongeacht bestand grootte.
maar evengoed toch wel bruikbaar voor een plaatjes verzamelaar zoals ik ;-)

Omdat dit van dezelfde Chinese uitgever is als het belachelijke Email Checker Pro (dat een complete miskleun is) had ik vooraf mijn bedenkingen bij dit programma.
Na enkele tests blijkt dat dit programma toch snel en efficiënt werkt.
Het resultaat bevat enkel de identieke foto's, geen foto's die een opvallende gelijkenis met elkaar vertonen zoals bij gelijkaardige programma's vaak het geval is.

nuttig: heeft een hoop dubbele foto's opgeruimd. een paar keer opnieuw gestart vanwege een unhandled exception waarna ik nog wel de dubbele foto's kon selekteren en verwijderen; de previewschermjes werkten niet meer.
de readme is goed te gebruiken samen met de trial van de website.

Vandaag een Setup zonder taalkeuze en het invullen van een Code uit de Readme.
De naam dient 2 keer ingevoerd te worden:

Hierna kunnen de plaatsen/mappen aangewezen worden, die doorzocht mogen worden op dubbelen.
Ik heb als test enkel de GOTD-dropboxmap laten nakijken.
Bij het selecteren van een map merkte ik, dat een dubbelklik op een map, deze map geopend werd in de verkenner.
Een enkele klik liet even later de submappen zien:

Het installeren lukte niet want mijn virusscanner F-secure vond een virus en verwijderde deze. Melding infectie Gen:Variant.Symmi.26620. Het betreft, volgens F-secure, Malware. "A detection name that uses the format "Generic.malware.[variant]", or similar, is a Generic Detection that is triggered if the suspect file appears to be suspicious, potentially undesirable, or has characteristics that resemble known malware. This may indicate the presence of a malware infection, or that the suspect file is malicious."
