Well, to my great disappointment, I noticed that lots of times the blurb instead of describing the GAOTD offered here for FREE refers to the PROFESSIONAL version of the main program, whose license needs to be bought...
That's NOT good dudes, because in the end this "practice" misleads lots of people here, not to mention that the main goal of this marvellous service is or should be that to test new software in order to give their developers some smart tips to further enhance their programs. But obviously if you offer just the BASIC limited edition of a software, asking users for money should they want to enjoy the full commercial version of the program, the main intent of this website actually risks to go to the dogs.
In this case, after reading the misleading blurb above, I was very excited to install this program but a few seconds later I discovered that I should have to pay an extra charge to get basic features, since this GAOTD doesn't support neither GMAIL, namely the most important FREE email service on the Net, nor Google Docs (and does NOT support automatic sync of Calendar and Contacts with Google account either).
Sorry folks, but all of this doesn't make sense to me (just a huge waste of time)!
So THUMBS DOWN from me.

Was quite excited about being able to download and deal with Gmail when I discovered THIS GAOTD version doesn't. You have to buy the upgraded version to get the one thing that is really needed. I was very disappointed as there are hundreds of email clients with some storing to folders - just none for Gmail. What a bummer.
The screenshots on the product website look very oldfashioned. The "today" date on the screenshots is 30 October 2007. This is 5 years ago!
Either the product has not evolved in the past 5 years, or the developer did not find it necessary to update the screenshots with today's version of the products. In both cases, this is far for promising.
Well, installed and was presented with a dialogue "enter email address and password" (which address?). Wouldn't accept any combination.
Clicked "continue 30 day trial. Crash! Repeatable every time.
No option I could see to resister or manually enter details of email settings.
Help topics wouldn't display from within programme.

tried to get on the website to look at this program at 8.03am in the UK.
website does not respond.
downloaded it ok but you have to visit the website to get activated, still no responce from the website.
tried to look at the help file on trial mode, back to the website that does not work.
I cannot see the need to go to the website other than to push you to their adverts.
surly with the new wrapper used by GOTD that should be enough to register.
if the product is a good one people would visit the website for more info.
Firms putting item to be down loaded should be preparded for the rush on their website and plan accordingly

Bij mijn WinXP VM blijft AVG2012 protest aantekenen.
Ik heb het kunnen installeren, toen de bescherming uit stond.
Nadat de AVG weer aanstond, wordt het toch geblokkeerd.

nou hier gaat het niet goed ik instaleerde het progamma activeerde het en waneer ik mijn google mail intype en wou gebruiken dan deed die het niet als ik dan naar instellingen ga en ik type mijn wachtwoord opnieuw en druk op test settings dan doet die het als ik dan op ok druk en via de normale settings van het progamma een test doe zegt ie account name and password do not mach

Gmail in een "gewoon" mailprogramma lezen en bewerken en versturen is te doen.
Je kunt in Gmail de pop/imap aanzetten en dan krijg je gewoon de gegevens te zien voor je gmail-account.
Thunderbird is een gratis mail-programma, die zoiets kan.

We have contacted the developers of AVG about it months ago, and so have other developers using the same code protection system (called Obsidium) including the developer of Obsidium himself. We have also used AVG’s False Positive Report form at avg.com. Feel free to contact them too, maybe they will pay more attention to multiple reports.
Needless to say that AVG is wrong, there is no virus in EverDesk, and none of the leading commercial anti-virus products (McAfee, Kaspersky, ESET, BitDefender, Microsoft Security Essentials, Dr. Web, among the ones we have tested EverDesk with) detect anything bad in EverDesk.
Unfortunately, AVG is still falsely detecting the ‘virus’ in EverDesk. We are not the only ones there: according to the independent anti-virus testing group AV Comparatives (www.av-comparatives.org), AVG has one of the highest false positive alarm rates in the industry.
If AVG’s own option to ‘Ignore the threat’ doesn’t work properly and still deletes the file, then we can only recommend uninstalling AVG and replacing it with a better anti-virus. We recommend Microsoft Security Essentials (windows.microsoft.com/mse) – it’s free, it’s light and fast, it’s reliable, and it’s from THE industry leader.”

verdorie, moet ik dan echt met tunnelbear werken om een post geplaatst te krijgen. De setup van de trial geeft iid bij virustotal een melding bij zowel AVG als Kingsoft. ik neem aan dat het een false positive is.

Vervolg op #23.
Ik heb eerst de setup van de leverancier opgestart. Maar vond de mappen van het plaatje van #20 niet. Daarna gestopt en de setup.exe van Giveawayoftheday opgesart. Toen vond ik wel die mappen en de genoemde inhoud.
Volgens mij heeft Zoaar zich dus vergist en de setup.exe (met wrapper) gedraaid.
Mar mijn virussscanner (Avast!) heeft geen probleem met het uitgepakte installatierprogramma. Wel valt het mij op dat die een stuk kleiner is (orde 13 MB) dan die van de leverancier (orde 20 MB).
Zou het daaraan liggen dat ik wel Gmail kan verwerken en Greg niet?

Ik begrijp niet waar Greg @9 op doelt met het door hem vermelde gmail-probleem.
In Thunderbird kan ik iedere mail elders (in een nader aan te geven partitie en folder) als apart bestand opslaan en heb daarbij de keuze tussen *.eml, *.txt en *.html formaat. Dat geldt ook voor mails die arriveren op mijn gmail-account.

Je kan ook de mails saven, bijvoorbeeld in eml-format.
Maar ik gebruik Gmail als cloud backup. Want ik werk op een aantal PC's en tablets gelijktijdig. Schrijf het ene mailtje op PC X en lees het op PC Y. Op deze hardware draaien op dit moment twee PC's en op beide ben ik aan het mailen.

Ik zoek een emailprogramma dat, anders dan Windows Live Mail, flexibeler is. Nu heeft elke account verplicht in de folderlijst een inbox, verzonden items, verwijderde items, ongewenste items, en dat allemaal niet in de kleur die ik wil. Dus er staat overbodige info op m'n scherm en de mappen die ik zichtbaar wil hebben moeten gescrolld worden of opengeklikt.

Ik moet regelmatig mensen helpen hun foto's uit de mail te halen. Zelf had ik vroeger een zelfgeschreven Outlook add-in om per project de documenten uit de ontvangen mail te halen.
Als de docs eenmaal zijn opgeslagen, mogen de mails verloren gaan. Dus is het niet erg als je dit programma weer kwijtraakt.
Je mag het commercieel gebruiken, dus ook op het werk.
Ik leid al mijn mail via Gmail, dus heeb ik per mailadres 10 GB oplsag.
Al met al ben ik enthousiast over dit aanbod.

En wat zeggen 2 en 3 over het programma, niets.
En volgens mij is dit forum daar voor en niet over geklets over anderen.
Dit programma lijkt me fijn naast een mailprogramma omdat je zo mail ook gewoon benaderbaar hebt als bestand.
Hoe vaak snak je er niet naar om eens gewoon mail simpel te kunnen terugvinden en niet ergens cryptisch verborgen in de MS spaghetti veroorzaakt door Outlook of zo.
Maar er zitten ook wat minpuntjes aan het programma als ik het zo doorlees en het is vrij prijzig vergeleken met andere programma's.
Ik ga testen.
