Installed and registered with problems on a Win 8.1 ro 64 bit system. Double checked email... the email with the key does not arrive in the next minutes. It's a long time, that I have seen such an old fashioned installation procedure.
A German company with name&address and a real company info.
Wulf-Dieter Lugert was a university professor for music education. He has been working with music software since the late 1970s. He loves to play the piano. Dieter is leading the FORTE project, and is responsible for FORTE meeting your demands.
One small detail, this software is on sale for $9.00 and not for $24.00 and it has slightly more capabilities than the freeware :

This is something different, not the usual PDF converters or watermark applications. Something for the musician in you. To be correct : for the beginning musician...
Upon start an understandable interface opens, you can start with a wizard or with templates (piano solo or two viola for example), you see a blank note sheet and you can enter the notes.
There is an option to read music sheets as scan, but you have to download it for $29.
The input of notes is easy, the learning curve for using the program is flat. With the built in player you hear your notifications.
With this very basic edition you can make a simple tune, for more voices and more than four tracks you need the other editions.
A nice and well tested piece of software with a long market history.
Does what it claims - but limited for the beginner. If you are a prof you'll know this software anyhow.
Be warned. It is easier to USE the software than to COMPOSE a good song. LOL
I'll keep it, maybe I will become Beethoven II or Beethove III.

Installed fine and received my activation code, but I can't find where to put it.
The program runs and so far is very easy to use. For anyone who wants to do notation, this program is working very well.

Re sleutelaanvraagproblemen.
Ik heb een aantal sleutels aangevraagd. Allemaal 33mailadressen die aan gmail-adressen zijn gelinked.
Ik moets veel langer dan normaal wachten. Zowel op het eerste mailtje met de bevestiginglink, als de tweede met de sleutel en de downloadlink voor een schone install.
Kijk voor de zekerheid in de spammap van Gmail zelf, dus via de browser. Gmail is nogal kritisch tav spam.

Ik heb het programma nog een keer geïnstalleerd zonder iets te veranderen aan de standaard en nu verliep alles prima zonder onverwachte herstart.
Ontvangst mail:
Aan de US kant zijn er ook meldingen over het niet ontvangen van de mail.
Als er in de spam-map ook niets staat, kan dit helpen:

Ook nadat ik gemeld had, dat het geen spam was, kwam nieuwe mail met de activatie-code ook in de Spam terecht.

Hierna de link in de toegezonden mail aanklikken.
Na bevestiging bij het openen van de link, komt in de nieuwe mail het nummer. Denk weer aan de Spam-map.

Ik kreeg bij de installatie wel een paar aparte zaken; misschien omdat ik van het gebaande pad afwijk.
Er is een voorstel om het programma in de program files te zetten en dan in "FORTE/FORTE Basic" (C:\Program Files (x86)\FORTE\FORTE 5 Basic)
Ik haal vaak een Forte er dan uit en toch wordt deze map wel aangemaakt met een installatielog met fouten; installatie zou afgebroken zijn.
Win7-64 herstartte bij het einde van de installatie zonder een vraag of mededeling. Sluit andere open bestanden om verlies te voorkomen
De herstart kan komen van een programma "ForteDependencies.exe" in de Temp-map van Windows:

Ik zag later ook geen vermeldingen in het startmenu of desktop.
Hierna het programma opgezocht en gestart. Er wordt gelijk om het registratienummer gevraagd uit de mail:

En laten afspelen. Ik kende dit lied nog niet. In de bibliotheek staan meerdere Duitse voorbeelden.
Tijdens het afspelen van het geladen bestand, heb ik een nieuw bestand geladen. Dit verliep goed, zij het wel dat het afspelen gewoon verder ging. Ik diende eerst het venster van de eerste song naar voren te halen om het te kunnen stoppen:

Er zal wel een snellere manier zijn, maar niet zo snel gezien.

Bij gebrek aan muziekbestanden op de PC heb ik wat opgezocht op Internet.
En sommige bestanden kun je gewoon laden en andere zijn beveiligd:

Deze spelen wel af, maar kunnen dus niet bewerkt worden. De scan-optie is helaas niet aanwezig. Ergens een kinderboek gezien met liedjes en noten: scannen en je hebt de muziek om samen na te zingen.
En een musicXML lukte ook niet zo snel: ik had een verkeerde te pakken; niet af te spelen helaas.

bij mij arriveert de emailmet activiatiecode niet.

De voorbeelden in dit programma zijn veelbelovend, mits je niet te veel eisen aan de partituur stelt. Invoer via toetsenbord is in deze basisversie helaas niet mogelijk. Nu moet alles via vele muisklikken en dat is te veel gedoe. Uitvoer naar midi is mogelijk en bij het afspelen kan een soundfont geladen worden.
