No bad at all, although the ridiculous current low USERS RATING would suggest the opposite.
Can also be used to create personalized screensavers with tons of advanced options offered to users, such as the cool feature to scale images, in order to fit them to screensize, the ability to display videos, animations and webpages in the slideshow final output, as well as the option to set transition speed and the time delay between slides.
Overall, this is an excellent software which is worth dowloading and buying (20 BUCKS is very cheap for what it does), but it's definitely NOT for noobs.

Thanks for all the comments. As BHT underlined while gPhotoShow Pro can create screen savers and slideshow for distribution its strongest features are targeted to the local screen saver usage and other are very specific for users that have huge photo collections.
For example these are some of the key features you will probably not find in similar products:
- Can display an almost unlimited number of photos and other supported files
- User defined filters based on image size, file name, rating and keywords
- Can display custom captions with Exif,IPTC,XMP metadata support
- With the MonitorOnOff PlugIn it is possible to automatically power-off attached monitors or switch-off and resume the system at a specified time of the day.

@Frank D gPhotoShow Pro can't be compared to Windows Movie Maker, it is a totally different program. Take a look at the description on our web site.
Not sure why PhotoStory 3 is being mentioned here as it's a far more comprehensive program originally conceived to produce slideshows of true movie-production quality. It's now 13 years old and due to Microsoft's witless early abandonment of further development is firmly rooted in the days of 4:3 CRT TV screens and has never heard of home DVD players. Folks like me who are used to PS3 know all the work-arounds (which is why we think PS3 is the finest example anywhere of this kind of software) including output scripts, wide screen re-setting from the native 4:3 and even the torturous process of actually getting a PS3 slideshow to burn to a blank DVD -- but PS3 is something of an overkill if you want a quick 'n easy slideshow which isn't seeking to provide the finest in Ken Burns motion control (and in PS3, the Ken Burns Effect has never been bettered) or intricate user'chooser management of everything from slide time duration to transition duration.
Today's giveaway -- software I've used before -- is a handy little run-about which works extremely well and is certainly superior to many a higher priced commercial offering of this kind. It's light and quick and easy -- the exact opposite of Microsoft PhotoStory 3.
As for the freeware DVD Slideshow GUI mentioned above, it's a laudable attempt to place a variety of Open Source video / image / audio processing apps under the hood of a straightforward GUI. But the results are still a zillion miles from PhotoStory 3 and really, in the context of today's giveaway, are fairly irrelevant given that gPhotoShow Pro is small program (excluding the GAOTD wrapper) that's easily downloaded, easily installed, and easily put to work within a few moniutes to do the kind of things it was designed for.
Thanks, GAOTD, and thanks to the developer, too: I'd happily recommend this to anyone even if only for a trial run. Like others here though, I am irritated by the 147 down votes it has received (at the time of writing this) from moronic button pushers who continue to wreak havoc with the credibility of GAOTD's voting system. Sadly, asking people *not* to vote if they haven't downloaded, installed, and used the GAOTD software offering has long since proved pointless -- these anonymous non-users of the giveaways just carry on regardless in their own ignorant fashion.

Bedankt voor het voorbeeld.
We hebben zelf een keer op vakantie in Tirol,
zo'n gevaarlijke situatie meegemaakt.
Op terugweg naar ons hotel naar boven bleek precies
voorbij een bocht een heel stuk wegdek op onze
weghelft was weggeslagen,(door zeer zware onweer)
en ook nog dat er op dat moment een auto naar beneden ging.
Ik zat zelf achter het stuur en het kan niet anders
dan dat er een beschermengel op mijn schouder zat,
zodat mij op dat moment gegeven was om de juiste
beslissing te nemen.

Onderin heb ik met de RSSfeedPlugin Google.news als ticker meelopen.
Jammer dat sommige functies alleen werken als .gss-bestand en niet als .scr of .exe.

Voor wie van screensavers houdt (en dat zijn er hier nogal wat :) ) is dit een bijzonder tooltje om screensavers te maken.
Te veel instellingen om op te noemen, maar fraaie resultaten zijn hier absoluut mee mogelijk. Alle proefnemingen lukten zonder problemen, output naar .exe of .scr gaan zeer vlot.
Je wilt foto's selecteren om te gebruiken voor je screensaver. Hier moet je even een nieuwe lege map aan maken en de foto's die je wilt gebruiken in die map copieren omdat je alleen maar hele mappen aan de tool kunt aanbieden. M.a.w selecteren doe je niet in de tool maar er buiten en vooraf. Even wennen.
Tevens zijn er plugins te gebruiken (gratis te downloaden bij http://www.gphotoshow.com/gpspro_download.asp ) en additionele frames (zelfde url). Een unieke en al ingebakken fame is de scrapbook-optie.
Panorama foto's en video en muziek is zelfs te gebruiken.
En het is een GFED.
De trial is binair verschillend, maar de GOTD "setup.exe" heeft geen wrapper die zit om de activate.exe (en bijbehorende activate.gcd).
@W.B., #4: registreren doe je door activate.exe te gebruiken die via een aantal stappen de zaak registreert. Vandaag een beetje afwijkend mechanisme (register is ook betrokken), maar wel zo leuk om tegen te komen. Gewoon activate.exe draaien en klaar ben je.
Als je bij "about" kijkt zie je de usernaam die activate.exe gebruikt heeft. In [All]%AppData%\logs wordt een log-file bijgehouden. Log-files zijn er om in te kijken, vooral bij problemen, maar een blik vlak na activering is ook wel handig, daar zie je namelijk de key vermeld. Key, username en setup.exe samen kun je gebruiken om de zaak te installeren.
Het kan nog handiger, na activering wordt er in [All]%AppData%\Licenses de licentie in een .lic-file opgeslagen (niet die van voor activering gebruiken dus). Samen met setup.exe heb je een GFED. Ik sla het register maar even over omdat dat voor de meeste mensen maar gevaarlijk en onduidelijk is. Je kan het register dan ook gewoon vergeten al biedt dat ook nog mogelijkheden. Vele manieren een GFED zeg maar.
Multi-monitor support zal ook velen blij maken denk ik (dwz van de screensaver leifhebbers dus).
En Abbadakedabra is terug, da's weer een tijdje geleden. ;)

hehe, ik ben er weer, na me huis uit gepleurt te zijn en een jaartje
het dak/thuislozen circuit doorlopen te hebben, hebben ik nu een wat stabielere basis, en nogsteeds geen poen natuurlijk.
(laptop in bruikleen nu.) Dus ik denk, ik ga naar giveaway, want daar is de prijs altijd schappelijk voor een lege beurs. ;o)

Eerst de ZIP geheel uitpakken, de Setup draaien en erna de Activate.

Op hun website wordt ook iets vermeld over "a strong multiple monitors support": niet helemaal duidelijk voor mij uit de tekst of dit over meerdere monitoren aan één PC gaat of over het aansturen van verschillende formaten van monitoren. breedbeeld, 16:9, 4:3, 1024 of zelfs 2048 etc.
De site vermeld behoorlijk wat meer info, zoals "Free 3D Cube Photo Show Screen Saver".
In dit programma zitten veel mogelijkheden in het Engels of Italiaans.
Ik mis er toch één; ik heb de gehele GOTD-Dropbox map geselecteerd en de thumbnails bekeken. Er bleken een paar foto's er tussen te zitten, die niet handig zijn voor een screensaver. Die kon ik in dat scherm helaas niet verwijderen. Niet met Del en ook niet met de rechtermuisknop.
Het lijkt er toch op, dat er meerdere monitoren aangestuurd kunnen worden met deze screensavermaker.

Voor degenen, die met screensavers spelen, is dit misschien wel de moeite waard om te bekijken.
Er zijn wel heel veel instellingen te veranderen, maar dan kun je het resultaat ook beter beheersen.

P.S> Saven naar .exe file staat in het menu onder Save als "Create standalone exe or scr", laatste item. Je kunt Previewen via Save "Save to file & preview". Programma is voor mij een blijvertje.

Op het eerste gezicht leek dit niets bijzonders, tot ik de website bekeek (nette site overigens): waanzinnig veel functies. Na installeren vind ik het jammer dat al die functies zo moeilijk te vinden zijn in het programma (zoals het saven naar .exe file), en juist de hele simpele opties als één foto toevoegen, en even Preview'en er gewoon niet inzitten.
Maar.. de demo (niet de moeite van het downloaden waard) laat nog niet voor 1% zien wat er mogelijk is met dit programma: tot in absurden (tot 32 monitors tegelijk support?). Verdient de naam Pro zeker, ook in het opzicht van een lastige bediening. Je kunt overigens frames (lijstjes) en ander toevoegingen downloaden op h!!p://www.gphotoshow.com/gpspro_download.asp#samples.
