This has long been a recommended go-to on computer help forums worldwide -- though always with the caveat that it should only be used under the supervision of a forum expert and NEVER by anyone of average everyday IT ability acting on their own. The hand-holding is essential because UnHackMe is one of the most powerful -- some might say, "aggressive" -- apps of its type.
Anyone thinking of installing and running it today really should stop and think first, because the issue here isn't "is UnhackMe competent at what it does?" but "am I competent enough in the ways of computing to actually manage it?"
This type of software must be accurate in it's scans and in what it deletes from your system. In the past offering I believe this was one of it's largest complaints. It has been offered here in the past on multiple occasions. I am no expert but I would advise caution with what you allow this to do. The last offering, in Dec 2017, was version 9.50. So, you are running two antivirus programs at the same time: Kaspersky antivirus and Panda Dome Complete?
As far as I am correct, running two antivirus programs on the same system is not a good idea, because they are eating up its resources, getting in each others way, and often causing corruption of the system, and at best- will slow down your machine.
I had this software before, too many false positives! /it needs someone with experience to run it. Now if it was automated, and I had one like that from another company, and it literally destroyed my computer. So the dilemma is, with programs such as this is: on the pone hand you let the program do it all and make huge mistakes, or allow for experienced user and forget about the novice.....Software such as this has a long way to go for the novice.
I was going to install it, but got cold feet after reading MikeR's comments.
Anyone in this Forum can respond to MikeR' s concerns?
DJ, I've installed this and it is very aggressive in it's scans, but it does not delete anything unless you select it to be deleted (or fixed) and this is where the problems can start. If you simply check a box and opt for the item to be removed there is a chance you remove something needed by your system. You can however look up any of the items it lists and decide for yourself. Obviously if you are unsure the best thing to do is to leave the suspect file alone and do some research. I'd say that this software does what it's supposed to do but is aimed at users with a good solid understanding of IT and probably best avoided by less knowledgeable users. If you are going try this I would strongly you back everything up first so that if it goes belly up you can restore your system.
Scanning is quite slow, but due to the fact the scan is deep , which it needs to be to find the nasties hiding in your system. From my tests I find it good and easy to use, my biggest dislike is the UGI, it's ghastly but I can live with it. Wouldn't recommend for users with limited knowledge, more advanced users should find it very good. BACKUP BEFORE USING!!!

Er wordt ook een bestand verstuurd naar Virustotal.com en dat dient bevestigd te worden, dat er geen robot aan het werk is:

Robot of niet: er is eigenlijk wel een robot aan het werk, omdat een programma zelfstandig een bestand upload. En de gebruiker dient te bevestigen, dat er geen robot is. Heeft dit programma dan geen service van virustotal.com beschikbaar? Het bleek trouwens een onderdeel te zijn van een printerprogramma; deze printer staat in een netwerk-omgeving. Van de andere netwerkprinter geen meldingen.

Bij een nieuwe scan komt een reeds ontdekte en niet verwijderde bedreiging naar voren, maar ook nieuw bedreigingen. Voor mij is dit nieuw, maar virustotal.com gaf wel 7 meldingen:

krypteller, zou het dan een idee zijn om een losse virusscan te laten uitvoeren, met een CD of boot-usb. Deze zijn in de smalen DrWebb, Kaspersky, AVG en waarschijnlijk nog een paar.
En mischien beter een ander merk nemen, dan de eigen AV. Omdat dan er minder kans bestaat, dat de fout weer door de mazen glipt.

De scanfunctie van dit programma levert mij in ieder geval nogal vreemde resultaten op.
Wat het vindt, zijn enkel false positives, een lege map wordt als malicious bestempeld en alhoewel het zelf Virus Total gebruikt, plaatst het mijn Virus Total Uploader onder Unknown. Niet al te vertrouwenwekkend.
