First of all, please note that the freeware version 16-40 available at many websites, is crippled. There are many features you cannot use and when you try to, it asks you to buy the Pro version; which is given away here today. For those who want try the freeware portable version, you have to install it into a USB drive and not onto any network hard disk.

Tested the software.
I must thank Zortam + GOTD for letting us try it out without having to buy first.
In my opinion, the overall result is: FAIL.
Reasons:
• The user interface is too busy.
• It is evident that the programmer is not clear what he is trying to create, so he does a little bit of everything (and not very well too).
• This is an common software-development-project failure. There is no clear sense of focus and direction. What do you want us to program boss? Oh, just throw a little of everything in, try to give "value for money" by giving every feature.
• The Zortam database of songs is woefully inadequate.
• It named the Artiste, Year, Genre and Album all wrongly.
• It requires you to first have a correct IDTag on the music file, in order to be more accurate. Which is nonsense. If I already have such, then I do not need this software to do ID tagging.
• The menu, key commands and mouse commands to do anything with the music files is not intuitive. Highly confusing.
• There is over emphasis on CD cover images.
• Other online utilty or off-line software with ability to link with and identify songs from GraceNote is much superior to Zortam MP3 Media Studio Pro.
• A built-in Z player is included for you to hear the songs. But the problem is the confusing User Interface leads to the song being played when you want to do something else.
• There is a facility for you to manually edit and type in the correct IDTag fields to a music/song file.
Since this software is highly confusing, not accurate in IDtag and not useful, I will uninstall it immediately after leaving this comment.
This program constantly crashed when attempting to update database or retrieve song lyrics. I had previous used this software when it was previously given away. But it disabled the player so the software became worthless.
Thought I would give it another try but this was even worse. I was running Windows 7, Home Edition 64 bit.
Unfortunately, the program does not start. Installed in but will not start - reinstall did not help: (
I installed on Windows XP SP2, but it doesn't work, the exe file shows in task manager for 2 seconds. Nothing else is shown.
When running the player, it shows a DLL error.
Please fix this bug, and give us a new opportunity to download in GiveAwayOfTheDay
down loaded and installed okay, tried it on some music files which were already tagged now they are a total mess ie;- most of my Dave Bowie songs have been tagged as The greatest hits albums and the same as my Aerosmith

Re #14, nieuwe versie. Ik heb een draagbare uitvoering onder XP van de nieuwe versie gemaakt en getest op de W8.1 64 desktop. Ook die draaide goed, net als de originele.
De nieuwe versie bevat een readme met een gebruikersnaam en sleutel. Maar die hoef je niet in te voeren.

Ik heb het nieuwe bestand opgehaald en geïnstalleerd.
Er zit ook een README bestand bij met aanvullende info.
De eerdere versie werkte bij mij en deze ook. Dus ik kan niet zeggen of deze versie beter is.

Zou je ook kunnen vertellen over welke DLL de foutmelding wordt gegeven?
Op de site van weggevertje . com wordt geen melding gemaakt, dat het niet draait onder Win8. Hij werkt ook onder anderen met Win8.
Bij de specificaties staat Win8 niet als ondersteunde Windows.
Zelf heb ik nog geen Win8 geïnstalleerd.

Ja Adriaan, 4o.ooo+ (40.700 om precies te zijn) en dat zijn dan de nummers in volledige (unieke) albums, dus buiten het "losse" spul( ook nog 10.000+)
Ik schaam me diep, ik verzamel ze zoals iemand anders postzegels ;-)
Om nog even aan te vullen,MusicBee lijkt inderdaad ook wel ingewikkeld maar is na even gebruikt te hebben toch wel leuk, zo zoekt het desgewenst bijpassende covers, aanvullende foto's, songteksten enz.
Het zoekt heel de harddisk of het alleen de aangewezen map af en geeft o.a. mogelijkheden voor een beoordeling en indelen en /of sorteren in categoriëen etc.
Als plus voor veel mensen is het ook in Nederlands in te stellen.
Als player lijkt het inderdaad overkill maar toch leuk om er bij te hebben!! (en na er aan gewend te zijn misschien toch ook als player)

De setup kan uitgevoerd worden in 8 verschillende talen, helaas geen Nederlands.
Enkel het draaien van de Setup is voldoende; geen codes of aanvragen via mail:

Bij de start van het programma kan er gelijk een database worden opgebouwd door het aangeven van een drive of folder:

Test het eerst even uit op een kopie van een folder: kijken of Zortam alles naar wens invult. Anders is het wel heel wat werk of het terug te draaien. Bij mijn test ong 700.
Na het inlezen wordt er gevraagd waar de ID-tags opgehaald mogen worden:

Ik heb wel gemerkt, dat het programma de ID-tags bijwerkt en dat daardoor ook de datum van de bestanden worden aangepast. Velen staan nu bij mij op de datum van vandaag. Het is een gegeven.
Het lijkt mij ook wenselijk om even naar de Options te kijken of alle vinken goed staan: zoals het versturen van lyrics/gegegevens naar Zortam:

Dit programma heeft veel, heel veel mogelijkheden, ook bv exporteren van de database in CSV-formaat, lyrics, covers etc . . . .

lijkt in eerste oogopslag sterk op het gratis "music bee"(wat wel in diverse talen, ook nederlands, is in te stellen)
Ik persoonlijk houd het qua speler op mijn oude vertrouwde "winamp" om mijn 40.000+ mp3 bestandjes te spelen ;-)
