Supports the latest HDD standards (Advanced Format Drive), 2TB+ and non-512B sector size drives, as well as 10 different disk sanitization methods. Must have tool especially for those who often buy & sell their PCs/Laptops and don't like the idea that somebody may have access to their sensitive files using data recovery software.
The big downside I can see is the size of this tool (116 MB is simply too big for a wipe disk).

I know my opinion will not be popular but I don't see this publisher as being any different than Ashampoo. Both of them offer programs that you can download and install here. But if you go to their site you can't find these offerings. They only exists here.
While Paragon's offering are good, solid programs that perform well. I think the programs are way to large for the functions they perform and this one is no exception. 116 MB is way too large for a disk wipe. Check this link for a free and portable alternative...

The commercially available Paragon software contain Microsoft components, that cannot be given away freely. We cannot expect Paragon to pay the MS licences for us.
The last time this program was offered, Paragon explained why the file is so large: it contains both 32 and 64 bit software.
I was somewhat surprised to see on their website that the Gutmann Method of disk wiping was still included, the reason being that apparently it is ineffective of modern drives. He wrote about it in the following article:-

It is so important that when you discard an old computer and its hard drive that it is worth taking some effort of ensuring that you are using the most effective method of erasure. And when you have erased data that it is tested with a decent recovery program to be sure.

Allereerst: iets wat kapot is verkoop je niet en als het niet
kapot is dan gewoon bewaren.
De shredder in kan altijd nog.
Vraag:
Als de opslagmedia (vaste schijf) niet kapot is, maar
in een afgeschreven computer zit,dan is er toch veel al
de mogelijkheid om er een externe schijf van te maken??
Dan zou dit mijn eerste optie zijn.

Eerlijkheid ook en dus bij deze "petje af" voor je 27 jaar met duizenden computers en de daarbij behorende tunnelvisie en zelfgenoegzaamheid.

Progje van Paragon werkt niet super snel en eraser doet het dan ook wel.
Na 'n bezoekje aan de rommelmarkt,heb ik ooit eens voor de gein met wat weggegooide en overbodige HDD's "gespeeld".
Resultaat,idd hele levensjaren van 'n familie gerecoverd.
Persoonlijk inzicht:
mijn opslagmedia worden nooit en de never verkocht maar gaan direct de shredder in.
ff met een sterke electromagneet bewerken kan nooit kwaad.

@3 : Het bijvoorbeeld gratis en zowat wereldwijd allermeest gebruikte freeware tooltje CCleaner heeft deze functie al zo lang aan boord. Van nieuwsgierige buurman tot vierdubbel CIA-proof ... Neen, dit is geen 39,95 euro waard als het gratis kan. En CCleaner, van de heren van Piriform, kan je wel degelijk vertrouwen ja. Eenvoud en basiskennis siert de mens, ook de leek ... sprak 27 jaar ervaring met duizenden verkochte computers. En anders boor je maar, conform het advies van Joke, als je dusdanig belangrijke informatie op je HD's hebt geplaatst. PS : boor nog maar even verder dan 3 als de staatsveiligheid het zeker niet mag oppikken welke eventuele top-geheimen je digitaal trachtte te verbergen ... hahaha. Wees niet zo naïef en leer je basis eerst beste man.
Moraal : CCleaner is zowaar een verplichte tool op elke pc, dus als je de basis zou beheersen, waarom zou je dan *absoluut* deze willen ... terwijl CCeaner ondermeer 'de aders van je pc' ook schoon komt te houden en daarnaast nog meer functionaliteit komt te bieden als register-opschoning, ...?? Deze aangeboden tool van 40 euro heeft geen bestaansrecht binnen de markt, Paragon of niet.

Wanneer je harddisk weggooit drie gaten met de boormachine dwars er door heen jagen....(Uitleg van een vroegere versie) Een betere oplossing is, die HD uiteen halen voor studiemateriaal. Dat weet men tenminste hoe die dingen in elkaar steken. Heb ik gedaan met een HD van 10 MB.

Dit programma ga ik absoluut binnenhalen. Heb hier maar liefst 4 oude computers die afgedankt gaan worden. Daar alleen al om.
Maar ook omdat ik een groot vertrouwen in Paragon heb. Hun partitiemanager gebruik ik al jaren, nou ja, niet vaak natuurlijk, maar zelfs bij mij als leek werkt dat altijd voortreffelijk.
Dus ben er blij mee. Fijne aanwinst !
