hmmm very interesting and unique piece of software todays (at least it's not a video converter...woh!!).
At first, when I saw its short description, I thought: oh, looks like addressed for small and medium-sized businesses, advanced users and professional people (ie company's employees), so for sure it will get a very poor score by GAOTD readers...
But surprise, surprise ==> 67% THUMBS UP at the moment!
Not sure if I really need it, since I have the award-winning BITDEFENDER INTERNET SECURITY 2014 running in my system (obviously got it for FREE ==> LOL!!), but this SMTP gateway seems a great way to complement the Windows' network capabilities, which are in my view not so great when security issues come into play.
Basically includes 2 main modules:
a) the "Kaspersky Gate Antivirus" to protect your network against external network attacks
b) AntiSpam Module for protecting corporate mail server so as to filter out spam, malware and unwanted email.
It also sports very advanced Routing functions, such as the ability to set the bandwidht speed limit, as well as prioritize the network traffic in favour of certain channels (VoIP, video, satellite etc...).
So overall this tool looks like a very good and handy piece of software, as long as you own a small and medium-sized businesses (how about the "strictly personal usage" limitation?? huh!!) or at least have a network of different PCs at home.
If you are just a home user I think you don't need it (and again I wonder how the heck it got 64% Thumbs UP so far).
That's why it costs a whopping 200 bucks!!!!
Now, given the nature of this GAOTD, you may think that Giovanni for the first time in history is not able to give you FREE ALTERNATIVES....right?

Our product is pretty versatile. It is suitable for small and medium-sized businesses and you can use it at home. Also, a decision has been made to allow commercial usage. Traffic Inspector is a gateway solution. It is not suited to be installed on an end-user PC. You should install it on a PC serving as a gateway for your LAN.

Can you please clarify your concerns? Currently the product is available for free. So what does the price of the product have to do with user interest?
Thumbs down trying to register. It DEMANDS I select a country, do I have to select my country or just any country because I live in Australia, not Austria, Australia, and it isn't in the selectable list.

Ik had niet echt moeilijkheden om een sleutel aan te vragen.
Email-adres invullen, naam en bedrijf/functie en waar je het programma voor gaat gebruiken.
En iets later staat er een bericht in de mailbox; het kan natuurlijk ook in je spammap staan.
De setup pakt eerst uit naar een map, waarna het MSI-bestand gestart moet worden om de installatie te voltooien.
De MSI-installatie is anders dan gewoon: er komen meer details naar voren.
En er worden o.a. netwerk-drivers geïnstalleerd.

Ik heb de drivers niet geupdate, want alles functioneert verder normaal en ik neem geen risico voor een spelletje dat, zoals ook te lezen is op de Amerikaanse Game Give Away site, verschillende mankementen vertoont op meerdere computers.
Raar dat Asus (mijn moederbord) ineens om de hoek komt kijken terwijl de mogelijkheid om dat roteren aan- en uit te vinken toch echt in een schermpje van Intel staat.
Heb Intel bedankt voor hun snelle antwoord en ben nu hier mijn belofte nagekomen. Ik ga het spelletje nu verwijderen en andere dingen doen :P

@Adriaan nee, niet zo zeer geschikt voor programmeurs maar voor ander automatiseringspersoneel dat graag wil zien wat er op het netwerk plaatsvindt. Zelf heb ik een aparte router die 'ongewenste'* sites blokkeert en waarbij ik kan zien wie in het netwerk wat opvraagt. Het probleem met de ID/Pin las ik zojuist ook op de anderstalige sites van GiveAway. Wellicht vanavond thuis nog eens proberen :)
* = jawel, het komt voor dat collega's even een uurtje naar de "vrouwtjes" willen kijken of even iets 'niet relevants' willen downloaden. Mogen ze thuis doen.
